Getting in the Christmas Spirit

"The best way to spread Christmas cheer is singing loud for all to hear!" - Elf

Getting in the Christmas spirit has been a little hard this year especially when yesterday was a whopping 78 degrees. Can a girl get a little chill in the air? It also has been crazy with work and traveling, which I am not complaining, but hasn't provided much time for sitting fireside with a cup of eggnog. With only 11 days until Christmas, I am sharing my action plan for getting in the Christmas Spirit:

1. Watch a Christmas Movie. My personal favorites include National Lampoon's Christmas Vacation, Elf, and The Holiday.

2. Turn on some Christmas Music. I can jam out to the Mariah Carey holiday station on Pandora but my vocals could use a little work.

3. Whip up some goodies in the kitchen! Calories totally don't count in December and here is one of my favorite recipes.

4. Light a Christmas scented candle because smell is strongly linked with memories. Who doesn't love Christmas memories? The Grinch?

5.  Get out and go enjoy the twinkling lights in your neighborhood or downtown.

6. Pour yourself a glass of eggnog with an extra splash of Southern Comfort. Or for those weeknights, try a little Hot Chocolate with Christmas tree marshmallows.

7. Throw on some red lipstick and your favorite tacky Christmas sweater. I dare you to go Christmas shopping in it!

8. Let yourself be mesmerized by the glow of a Christmas tree. Is it just me, or is it not the most beautiful thing you've ever seen?

9. Break out your crafty side! I love how creative I get to be at Christmas. Since I have no snow, I am thinking about making my own snow garland.

10. Become a gift wrapping ninja and knock that wrapping out! After being covered in glitter, having shreds of festive paper everywhere, and seeing the gifts under the tree you'll feel Christmasy inside.

How do you get in the Christmas spirit? I would love to hear in the comments below.

  1. Christmas is my favorite time of year. I'm known for bringing the music out in June sometimes LOL. I love Christmas baking, making candies, my tree is up 1st weekend in November most years, and cold nights with homemade hot chocolate! Oh. .. and seeing my 3yr old grand daughter's eyes light up when I turn on the tree. Many Christmas movies I love, but my favorites are Christmas Vacation, A Christmas Story (I own a leg lamp, a leg stocking, and the ornaments for the tree), and my most favorite is A Christmas Carol (with George C. Scott). Its not the Christmas season to me until I hear Christmas In Dixie, and the hippo song! Most of all, I love celebrating the Birth of my Savior! God Bless!
