When I Grow Up and Turn 27

Tomorrow is November 6th which means only one thing... 30 days until I turn 27. UGH! I know a lot of you think that's still young and yeah, yeah it is. But at the same time, it means that I am an adult. Doesn't the word "adult" just sound so formal and proper?  I've accepted this whole adult thing but trust me I still have a few things that I need to do when I turn 27 and "grow up".

1. Stop biting my nails! I know I've been saying this for well 27-ish years but I will stop.

2. I need to kick  slow down my shopping addiction!

3. Put more money in savings so basically stop shopping so much. You wouldn't expect me to go cold turkey would you?

4. Clean up my potty mouth. Sorry mom!

5. Stop sweating the small stuff. Anxiety and stress do me no good.

6. Possibly get a new role model. Is it weird to be 27 and have Taylor Swift as your role model? #shakeitoff

7. Start wearing lipstick and wrinkle cream. I won't be young forever and I do look more alive with some lip color.

8. Spend money on experiences and not things. I love a good pair of shoes but a trip to Italy sounds even better.

9. Enjoy alone time. A date night by myself can do great things for the soul.

10.  Understand my 401K and Insurance Plan. This just sounds adult but I really do need to understand more about the benefits offered to me.

These next 30 days may include a few more "Shake It Off" moments than normal, but it'll also include a little brushing up on my 401K information. Can I listen to T Swift while studying my 401K? Anyways, I really do look forward to my birthday but it is mind blowing to be turning 27. As cliche as it sounds, I feel like I was just celebrating my 22nd birthday and thinking I felt grown up then. Ready or not for 27, I can't wait to ring in another birthday and celebrate with a few traditional margaritas and birthday cake. Here I come 27 so get ready for me!

  1. Congrats on the upcoming birthday. Number 8 is my favorite! My year 28 mantra is "collect moments". I just celebrated a birthday last month. Still working on my goals for this year, it will go live next week. :)

  2. Hard to believe it will be 27 years ago since I gave you your very first bath in the hospital after you were born! I loved you then and I love the woman you've become now. You do the Smith name proud! Aunt Laurie

  4. I turned 27 in September, but I swear I don't feel a day over 23! I still like to consider myself as mid-20's. There's no way I can be in my late-20's already. :)

It's definitely the right time to start investing in experiences. Life is a lot more fun that way! I hope 27 brings great things for you!

  5. Girl 27 is still super young! I am coming to grips with entering into mid-20's. You really are only as young as you feel! And look lol jk but seriously just patting a little moisturizer under your eyes will make a world of differed years down the road. My grandmother has beautiful skin and has used the remedy of visoline under her eyes since she was in her 20's! Oh and T-Swift is best. No question. Happy Early Bday!

    1. Amen to that because I do feel young! My mom used to use Vaseline and she swears by it to ha. My secret right now is cold cream and still searching for the best eye cream. If only I had listened to everyone's advice about tanning when I was younger ha.
