The Lazy Girl's Recipe for Apple Pie Turnovers

Apple Turnover Recipe

There comes a time when the air gets crisp and Fall is in full swing that I get a serious craving for apple pie. I have made a homemade apple pie and it's quite delicious, but with its 1 full stick of butter and other unhealthy ingredients my waist line has to resist the temptation. Not to mention that if a whole pie is sitting around I can not let it go to waste and that means I eat the whole thing within a 2 to 3 days. Basically I am stating that my inner fat girl comes out!

So this year instead of making a whole apple pie, I made individual apple pie turnovers. Okay, I know everyone has their own recipe for turnovers but mine is the lazy girl's recipe. This recipe only yields 8 turnovers so less temptation which is always a good thing. After making these, I ate about 4 and gave the other 4 away to my loved ones via a cute Ziploc bag. Another lazy girl tip is a sharpie and Ziploc can make a cute little package- sorry no pictures of this!

Okay so are you ready to make an Apple Pie Turnover in a few quick and easy steps?

Easy Apple Turnover Recipe

Apple Turnover Recipe

1 can of Crescent Rolls
1 Apple (I prefer Granny Smith Apples)
1/2 cup of Pecan Chips
1/4 Stick of Butter (Melted)
4 TBSP of Light Brown Sugar
4 TBSP of Sugar
4 TBSP of Cinnamon
Pure Clover Honey
Cookie Sheet lined with Greased Parchment Paper

1. Preheat oven to 375 degrees.
2. Cut your apple into 8 slices removing any core and seeds.
3. Open can of crescent rolls and lay out all 8 on cookie sheet.
4. In a mixing bowl combine light brown sugar, sugar, and cinnamon with a whisk.
5. Take your melted butter and brush a little bit on the top of the crescent roll triangle.
6. Sprinkle 1-2 pinches of your sugar/cinnamon mixture on the top of the crescent roll.
7. Sprinkle a pinch of pecan chips on the top of each crescent roll.
8. Place an apple slice in the middle of each crescent roll and make your turnover by starting to roll the crescent roll triangle from the small corner towards the large end.
9.Take the remainder of your melted butter and brush the outside of the turnovers.
10. Sprinkle the remaining sugar/cinnamon mixture over the outside (top and bottom) of the crescent rolls.
11. Sprinkle the remaining pecan chips over the top of the outside of the crescent rolls.
12. Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until the crescent rolls are golden.
13. After taking them out of the oven, drizzle 2-3 lines of honey over all the turnovers and scoop up any loose pecans to put back on the turnovers and stick with the honey.

Voila! Now you have the Lazy Girl's Apple Pie Turnovers. I added the pecans as my crunch since there isn't a topping or crust. These are so easy to make and are just as good the next day with a little reheating. Not that I am lazy but these few steps could not be an easier. Add a little #PSL or glass of Merlot and you've got yourself the perfect combination!
