Saying Yes to the Dress!

Wedding dress shopping is when everything starts to fall into place! I know that sounds uber cheesy but it is when you get the biggest bridal rush. This is the first time you really start to feel like a bride, well mainly because you have a bridal gown and veil on, but it all just feels so real. Because you try on what feels like twenty dresses but then you try on the right one. You get a little teary eyed and just know that your wedding day will be amazing!

This past weekend we went wedding dress shopping for my best friend, Kacie. I was so excited to be a part of this big event! The appointment was lots of smiles and laughter, but the goal was to help the bride with her big decision. It was such an exciting and special time.

While I am not expert I hope I can share a few helpful tips in Saying Yes to the Dress for all the brides to be!

1. Invite a small, intimate group for your appointment. Remember the appointment is about you, the bride, and you want to feel special and not overwhelmed by a big group. I had my mom, sister and two bridesmaids which was perfect! Too many opinions can get a bit overwhelming.

2. Get dolled up for your appointment. I am not saying you have to be bridal ready but you do want to feel pretty. When you try that right dress on you don't want to be focused on how your dry shampoo failed that morning.

3. Come prepared with dress styles you like! It may not be what you leave with but it gives your dress consultant an idea of where to start. Don't be scared to tell your consultant any insecurities you may have too, for example you don't want anything too tight on your stomach. Also be prepared with a budget because remember you do have a whole wedding to pay for still.

4. Wear the right undergarments! A good pair of nude panties is a great investment and the appropriate undergarment for that white or ivory dress. You don't want bright pink polka dot panties spotlighting during the appointment. If you have a good pair of Spanx I also suggest wearing those, it's all about feeling your best!

5. Have fun and remember what this moment is all about! You may try on 15 different dresses before you find the right one but that's okay. Relax and enjoy yourself because wedding dress shopping is one of the best parts of wedding planning.

6. When you do find that perfect dress  CELEBRATE! A bottle of champagne should be chilling with a little popper of confetti near by.
