Back to the Grind {Motivation Monday}

 
 

Back to the Grind

It's Motivation Monday around here, because it's officially 6 weeks until I am pouncing around in a bikini for what my sister calls "Smith Family Spring Break."  I got really good about working out until the cold struck, but now I have no excuse. So here is how I am getting back to the grind for "Smith Family Spring Break":
 
1. Buy New Workout Clothes- Nothing motivates me like being able to wear a new outfit. But seriously work out clothes aren't cheap so I need to put them to good use. I recently went and bought some new leggings and a top from the CALIA by Carrie Underwood line. Unfortunately the leggings did not give me Carrie Underwood legs but a girl can always dream.
 
2. Mix It Up- I get bored very easily with my workout routine. I've always tried to be a runner but I have the attention span of a gnat. So what do I do? Yoga, kettlebells, HIIT, intense walking, and the list goes on. I cancelled my membership to the gym because the internet has a plethora of free workouts. DoYogaWithMe is an awesome website for free yoga videos and they offer beginner to advanced practices. When I am wanting to step it up a notch and do Kettlebells or HIIT, the Tone It Up Girls are awesome! They have all sorts of great workouts that are great for wanting to tone up. If all else fails, a good Google or YouTube search will help me find what I am looking for.
 
3. 4 Days, 45 Minutes- So my goal has always been to work out 3 days a week at least 30 minutes, but I am kicking it up a notch!  My goal is to work out 4 days a week for 45 minutes. Easier said than done but I am sticking to it. Every day after I work out I will be marking a big ol' smiley face on the calendar for that day. If I can do this for 6 weeks then I am treating myself to a Triangl bathing suit I have been eyeing. Everyone deserves a little reward right?

4. Get Up and Do It-  6 AM wake up calls begin again! If I can get up and get my workout done in the morning, it makes my whole day better, plus it's out of the way! I know it will stink when that 6 AM alarm goes off but I know once I get back into the routine again it won't even bother me. The Tone It Up program calls it your Booty Call because it is proven that if you work out in the morning, you lose more weight and it increases your core temperature for the day. Plus, your metabolism gets a huge boost for the remainder of the day. Try it for a week; it makes all the difference!

5. Pin It- I am constantly pinning different workouts, recipes, and motivational tips to my Pinterest Board. This helps me come up with different workouts and healthy recipes so that I do not get bored with the same old routines. I also like having my fitness motivation in front of me because it keeps me going. Plus, you can find all sorts of crazy tips and workouts on Pinterest!


Summer is right around the corner and I am so excited. There is nothing better than warm weather, beach trips ,and afternoons at the pool. I hope my tips help and get you back to the grind. It'll be bikini season before you know it!

  1. You are the cutest thing ever! We all need some motivation for summer! Especially since I will be 9 months preggo! I love the TIU girls! They have some really good workouts! Somebody told me the other day Costco has some really cute affordable workout clothes! Thanks for the motivation!
