A Bad Day's Cure

A Bad Day's Cure

So it's safe to say last week was a little crazy and consisted of a bad day or two. Between the house being torn apart to be painted, a crazy/troublesome work week and a super sick dog... I was a little stressed. There may have been a tear or two or twenty (I get emotional easily) and some impatient moments with my amazing husband- sorry about that. Either way these days happen and all you need is a little pick me up. Here are a few of ideas for a bad day's cure:

1. Wine About It: If wine can't fix it, I don't know what can. While I usually don't drink during the weekdays, sometimes a bad day calls for a big glass of wine. Don't judge but after a really bad day, dinner sometimes consists of Cinnamon Toast Crunch and a glass of Merlot, all while crawled up on the couch. I advise to always keep a bottle (or two) around just in case.

2. Cheat a Little: Chocolate is scientifically proven to make you happier and I have a theory that lots of calories do too. After a bad day, there is nothing wrong with enjoying some Ben & Jerry's or a huge bowl of pasta. Food always makes me happy. As Julia Child once said, " People who love to eat are always the best people."

3. Take a Soak: Look at how happy Julia Roberts looks. I mean seriously there is nothing more relaxing than soaking in the bathtub. Light a candle, grab a magazine and put on some tunes. While I have never been able to get that many bubbles, I do suggest adding a bath bomb or even some essential oils.

4. Crawl in Bed: My bed is my oasis and time spent there is precious. There has been a time or two that I crawl in my bed at 8:30 and don't leave for the night. Being tucked into my little cocoon watching my favorite shows is the best place to be. When you don't feel good you usually you stay in bed right? A bad day and being sick are kind of the same. Plus my precious little dog Bo makes a great companion for these evenings.

5. ... And Watch Friends: Thank you Netflix for adding Friends! Anyone who does not like this show is not human. After a bad day, Friends will totally change your mood. Or just follow along and put on your wedding gown and drink a beer. There is totally nothing wrong with that.

6. Take a Walk: My little dog Bo loves a walk! I mean he goes bananas when he sees his leash and it is the most contagious type of happiness. With or without a furry companion, a walk can help clear your mind. Get those walking shoes on and turn up "Shake it Off" by Taylor Swift, it'll be amazing how much your attitude changes. Plus now that the warmer weather has arrived go outside and get some Vitamin D. It's scientifically proven to make you happier.

7. Call Your Mom: This one may be just me, but moms are the BEST about listening to you vent. My rock star mom has heard me vent (aka whine and complain) about 99% of my bad days. If not your mom then a sister or best friend are good for this, preferably a female. Boys just don't understand sometimes like girls do.

8. Retail Therapy: I am a girl who loves some shopping whether it be virtual or live. I have been known to sneak to a mall at lunch or hit "Confirm Purchase" after a bad day. Although people claim it only provides a temporary solution that is not the case for me. Shopping always puts me in a great mood! While my wallet may not agree I always try to remain within "reason" while in retail therapy mood.
